Calisthenics is the art of bodyweight strength training with a high focus on functionality. Calisthenics requires almost no equipment and focus on six core exercises: pushups, pullups, squats, hanging leg raises, bridges and handstand pushups. Progression is key; starting with minimal ability you step by step go from simple to complicated movements.

Calisthenics is a hybrid practice which pulls from the worlds of military training, yoga, and gymnastics. Since calisthenics requires little to no equipment it is a great practice to have to do on days you can not make it to the gym, or rather train at the park on a sunny day. It’s the sport you can take with you wherever you go.

Like break dancing, kung fu, or ice skating it can be taken to a level of literal art. It can be as simple or complex as you choose. It pairs perfectly as strength training if you already do yoga, flexibility practice if you already do weight training, or agility training if you do martial arts.

Step by step you can have well balanced training with the calisthenics. Contact me if you would like to start!
